The origin of sofa can be traced back to about 2000 BC in Ancient Egypt, but the true meaning of upholstered sofa appeared from the end of the sixteenth century to the beginning of the seventeenth century. At that time, sofas were mainly filled with natural elastic materials such as horse hair, bird feathers, and plant down, and covered with fabrics such as velvet and embroidery to create a soft human contact surface.
